Head of the Department of General Surgery at the City Hospital in Siedlce. Member of organizations such as Harvard Alumni Association, American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (EAES), International Society of Surgeons (ISS), and European Hernia Society (EHS). Organiser of multiple training courses and workshops on laparoscopic hernia surgery. Author of over 70 academic papers on abdominal wall hernia. Coordinator of the laparoscopic hernia surgery training program of the Video-Assisted Surgery Section at the Society of Polish Surgeons (TChP). Founder of the Herniacademia educational YouTube channel dedicated to inguinal and abdominal hernia repair operations.
Speaker: Dr. Andrejs Brikuns
Dr. Andrejs Brikuns is a highly experienced general surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience, currently practicing as a surgeon at Paula Stradiņa clinical university hospital, and responsible Surgeon for hernia surgery at the Surgical clinic at Paula Stradiņa clinical university hospital. His professional focus includes colorectal surgery, reconstructive gastrointestinal surgery, and the surgical treatment of abdominal wall. His practice emphasizes both conventional and minimally invasive techniques tailored to individual patient needs. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Brikuns is actively engaged in academic teaching as a Lecturer at the Department of Surgery, Riga Stradiņš University, contributing to the education and training of medical students and surgical residents. Dr. Brikuns is actively involved in professional organisations and ongoing medical education, reflecting his commitment to excellence in surgical care, research and training.

 

 

During the online workshop, Prof. Kryspin Mitura, MD, PhD, and Dr. Andrejs Brikuns will perform and discuss two hernia operations. In addition, Prof. Kryspin Mitura, MD, PhD, will present theoretical issues related to hernia repair.

The workshop will be broadcast from the Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital in Riga.
