Doctor of Medicine, 1983 – Medical University of Warsaw 1985–1987: Surgical Department, Płońsk. 1987–1996: Thoracic Surgery Department, John Paul II Specialist Hospital, Kraków (formerly Dr Anka Hospital). In 1990 – second-level specialisation in thoracic surgery, and In 1996 – second-level specialisation in general surgery. 1996–2024 – Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department at the Olgierd Sokołowski Independent Public Specialist Hospital for Lung Diseases (now named after Klara Jelska) in Zakopane, and From 2004 to the present day, Director of the same Hospital. Academic activity In 1994 – Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 2006 – Habilitated Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 2020 – Professor of Medical Sciences (title conferred by the President of Poland) From 2020 to 2025 – National Consultant in the field of thoracic surgery. Scientific output Author and co-author of 162 papers published in scientific journals. Author of 2 books: – Handbook of Thoracic Surgery – PZWL 2024 and - Atypical and Innovative Thoracic Operations (Springer – Nature, Switzerland 2026) Editor-in-chief, together with Ramon Rami – Porta, of the collective work – Transcervical Approach in Thoracic Surgery. Springer Nature 2014.

During the online workshop, Prof. Marcin Zieliński, MD, PhD, will perform and discuss two reconstructions of chest wall defect.  In addition, Prof. Marcin Zieliński, MD, PhD, will present theoretical issues related to reconstruction of chest wall defects.
